Social holidays for people with low income and those most in need
Social holidays are granted based on economic, health and social grounds.
What is a social holiday?
The five-day holidays include accommodation, full board with food and an inspiring group programme, in which you can participate according to your own preferences.
Accommodation is arranged in shared double rooms or family-sized rooms/apartments.
Who can apply?
Social holidays are intended for people who live permanently in Finland and have Finnish social security number.
Applicants can be granted a social holiday no more than every third year or three times within a time period of ten years.
What is the price of the holiday?
The price of the holiday (the deductible) is 100-135 € for adults and those aged 16 or over.
Children under the age of 16 can come on the holiday free of charge.
The price for holidays aimed at unemployed adults (Työttömien lomat) is 50€/person.
The participants need to arrange travel to and from holiday destination for themselves.
Where are the holidays organised?
Holidays are organised in different parts of Finland, in different types of holiday destinations.
You can find more information about the holiday destinations from here.
How do I apply for the holiday?
Social holidays must be applied with a holiday application. In the application you have to explain why you need a social holiday (the economic, health and social reasons).
You can list three holiday wishes to the application.
You can apply a holiday together with a friend or relative.
You both have to fill in an individual application and mention each other´s names in your applications.
For large families (with more than five children) we recommed to apply the holidays that are arranged in sports institutes or Spa Hotel Rauhalahti.
Pets are allowed at some of the holiday destinations. A fee will be charged for pets.
For more information, contact the holiday destination.
You can apply for a co-operation holiday even if you are not a member of any organisation.
Membership of an organisation or association does not affect the holiday granting decision.
You can print a holiday application in English here and send us the filled application.
You can also fill the application online here (only in Finnish)
